Preparation

Prepare useful facts without disturbing the evidence.

Good preparation begins with simple observations. Instructions specific to the pest and selected method are communicated separately when applicable.

Before moving or applying anything

Preserve what helps explain the situation.

Avoid unnecessarily moving objects between areas, thoroughly cleaning away signs or applying several products before receiving instructions. Some actions may displace activity or make evidence harder to observe.

Residential

Occupants and animals

Absence, re-entry, ventilation and object-moving instructions depend on the method and, when a product is used, its label. Follow only the written instructions specific to the intervention.

Buildings

Coordination

For a building or establishment, designate one contact person and centralize reports. The evaluation may need to consider adjacent units, common areas and possible travel routes.

Rentals

Report promptly

A tenant who suspects a problem should promptly inform the owner or manager, preferably in writing. SGP can document its observations and interventions but does not determine the parties’ legal responsibility.
