Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about pest management.

Precise general answers before you decide, without replacing the scope, directions or terms confirmed in writing for a specific intervention.

Evaluation

Before you begin

Is an inspection always required?

It may be required when the species, extent of the problem or building conditions must be confirmed before the scope of work can be established.

Can the pest be confirmed from a photograph?

A photograph can guide the initial review, but reliable identification may require several angles, physical signs or an inspection.

Does a pest problem mean the premises are unclean?

No. Many factors can contribute to activity, including building access, moisture, neighbouring premises, goods, movement or seasonal conditions. Maintenance may nevertheless be among the factors evaluated.

Products and biopesticides

An approach adapted to the context

Do you always use a pesticide?

No. Depending on the situation, measures may include prevention, exclusion, sanitation, monitoring and physical or mechanical methods. A product is considered when the situation indicates it.

Does SGP use environmentally friendly products or biopesticides?

SGP does not rely on a broad label such as “environmentally friendly.” Instead, the company seeks to consider certain registered biopesticides when the pest, premises, authorized uses and label allow.

Is a natural product risk-free?

No. In Canada, pest-control products presented as biological, natural or environmentally friendly, as well as biopesticides, remain regulated as pest-control products. Permitted uses, precautions and label directions must be followed.

Is it safe for children and animals?

No method suits every situation in the same way. Mention children, animals, aquariums or vulnerable individuals; instructions specific to the intervention will be provided before service.

Pricing and follow-up

A scope confirmed in writing

What affects the price?

The pest, extent of activity, layout, access to affected areas, selected method and planned number of visits may affect the price. A final price may require an inspection.

What should the proposal specify?

The written proposal specifies included services, exclusions, price, applicable taxes, payment terms, instructions and planned follow-up.

How many visits will be needed?

The number of visits depends on the pest, extent of activity, access to affected areas and observed progress. Planned follow-up is stated in the written proposal.

Do you offer a guarantee?

Any applicable contractual guarantee is described in the written agreement, including its duration, scope and conditions. Nothing on this site replaces those terms.

Occupants and buildings

Preparation and coordination

Do I need to leave the premises?

That depends on the selected method and, when a product is used, its label. Follow only the absence and re-entry instructions provided for your intervention.

Should I move furniture or clean before the visit?

Do not unnecessarily move objects from an affected area to another. Preserve observed signs and wait for instructions specific to the pest and contemplated method.

What should a tenant do?

Promptly inform the owner or manager when a problem is suspected. Good coordination supports access, preparation and follow-up. Legal responsibility depends on the facts and is not determined by SGP.

What can commercial documentation include?

Depending on the mandate, it may include the areas examined, signs observed, measures completed, recommendations and planned follow-up.
